A Beginner's Guide to Mindful Meditation

Mindful meditation is simply paying gentle attention to the present moment. Regular practice can help reduce stress, improve focus and support restful sleep.

How to begin

  • Find a quiet spot and sit comfortably.
  • Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
  • Follow your breath as it flows in and out.
  • Return gently whenever your mind wanders.
A wandering mind is normal. Noticing it and coming back is the practice.

Start small

Begin with a few minutes each day and slowly build up. Consistency matters more than length.

Bring it outdoors

Meditating in a garden or park adds fresh air and natural sounds that many people find calming.
